RigiTech is pleased to announce a breakthrough in cross-border medical drone operations, achieved through successful test flights with our partner ANWB. Building on ANWB’s successful introduction of the Eiger drone in the Netherlands, this latest initiative marks a bold step toward expanding its operational range across Europe.
To achieve this, ANWB worked with Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) in Switzerland and ÖAMTC in Austria to test the possibility of long-range, centralized control from Amsterdam. This collaboration exemplifies how medical delivery routes can be remotely controlled across borders, ultimately enhancing the scalability of medical drone networks across multiple European countries
In drone delivery, fixed-wing drones, multicopters (quadcopters), and Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) drones each present unique advantages and limitations. While fixed-wing drones excel in distance, quadcopters are known for agility, and VTOL drones like the Eiger combine the best of both for a balanced, versatile solution. This guide will help clarify the distinctions and potential applications for each type, especially in the context of delivery.

In the rapidly evolving world of drone delivery operations, understanding key acronyms is essential for grasping the latest advancements. One of the most significant breakthroughs is VTOL, or “Vertical Take-Off and Landing,” a technology that has transformed the capabilities of drones. VTOL enables fixed-wing drones, typically constrained by the need for long runways, to ascend and descend vertically like helicopters. This innovation eliminates runway dependency, allowing for operations in space-restricted environments.
